Skin Conditions

Because of the skin-to-skin contact and the mats themselves, skin issues are something we have to watch closely in our sport.  However, there are simple ways to prevent skin conditions from happening.
Both the High School & Youth Coaches clean our wrestling mats DAILY!

Tips for Prevention:

•   Perform a daily full-body skin check and report any suspicious lesions to your coach or physician as soon as it appears!

•   Have all match and practice clothes laundered daily.

•   Keep your headgear clean!

•   And most importantly - Follow good personal hygiene practices:
          >   SHOWER with antimicrobial soap immediately after practices and matches and wash hands frequently.
          >   AVOID sharing towels, razors, athletic equipment, water bottles, and hair clippers.
          >   AVOID body shaving.

ALL SKIN CONDITIONS MUST BE REPORTED TO THE COMMISSIONERS!

If it looks suspicious, please point it out to a coach and we can help identify it for you!
Always err on the side of caution!
The sooner you report it, the sooner you get treatment and the sooner you return to the mat!

If your wrestler does catch a skin condition, you will be asked to seek medical attention.
It is a state requirement to fill out a Skin Lesion form as well as present a doctor's note allowing you to return to practice.
